Evaluations
The first step in the process is to have an evaluation completed for your child. We offer complete diagnostic evaluations, which determine your child's speech and language needs and help guide the course of your child’s therapy. A parent questionnaire will help inform the evaluation process; assessments relating to speech, voice, language, fluency, and social disorders at all levels of severity may be utilized based on the needs of your child.
We will evaluate each child's strengths as well as any areas of concern using a number of measures to capture a comprehensive picture of your child’s needs and abilities.
An evaluation will include a parent report, unstructured play and conversation, and formal tests. All evaluations are performed by a licensed speech/language pathologist.
Please plan for 1-2 hours to complete the evaluation depending on the needs and age of the child.
In some cases, if your child has a current Speech/Language IEP, the evaluation process may be shortened or omitted.
Therapy
An individualized therapy plan will be developed for your child based on the results of the comprehensive speech and language assessment. Your child’s treatment plan will be tailored to the area(s) of need and will incorporate multiple learning formats and styles to engage your child in learning. Therapy is conducted by a licensed speech/language pathologist. Each therapy session is scheduled in 30 minute increments leaving 5 minutes at the end of the session to discuss what was worked on and what skills should be continued with home practice.
School Contract Services
Toledo Pediatric Speech Therapy offers school based speech-language pathology services with high quality therapists to underserved and understaffed districts.
We provide a full-service supervision and mentoring of our therapists. Our goal is to help school districts meet their short and long term speech/language therapy needs (i.e., part-time support, covering maternity leave, emergency openings, and caseload capacity support).
JPSN Scholarship
The Jon Peterson Special Needs (JPSN) Scholarship Program provides scholarships to students who are eligible to attend kindergarten through 12th grade and have an Individualized Education Program (IEP) from their district.
The scholarship is an educational choice program for children in grades K-12. If a student is approved for the scholarship, the public district is no longer responsible for providing a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE). Children who are in private school or are home schooled are eligible to apply, but they must first be evaluated by their public school district and determined to qualify for special education. Children in public school are not eligible for the JPSN scholarship.

Consultative Services
We are available to consult with school personnel for IEP and Case Conference meetings, other outside therapists, including OTs, PTs, and psychologists as well as physicians as requested by the parents.
Summer Speech Therapy
Toledo Pediatric Speech Therapy is pleased to offer supplemental speech therapy for your child during the summer months. Summer speech therapy will allow parents quick access to regular appointment times starting in June.
The evaluation process may be shortened or eliminated if you can provide a current IEP, recent progress report, or other helpful information for our team to implement the best therapy for your child.
