TPST is Private Pay Only

TPST accepts checks as well as credit cards, debit cards, and HSA/FSA payment.

Email us today for current evaluation and treatment pricing.

Although TPST does not work directly with insurance companies, you can check with your insurance plan to see if your health care plan allows you to be reimbursed for "out of network" speech/language therapy services. TPST is happy to provide any documentation they may need for you to be reimbursed appropriately.

Insurance Information:

First Look at Your Own Health Care Plan

Either call the customer services number or read your health plan. You want to look for:

  • Terms like “speech-language pathology”, “speech therapy”, other rehabilitation services, or other medically necessary services

  • Limitations and exclusions of coverage

  • Coverage of both evaluation and treatment (or therapy) services

Some insurance plans do not cover speech-language pathology services. Common reasons for denials include:

  • Policy language: Most children are not covered if the benefit includes only disorders resulting from “accident, illness or injury.”

  • Diagnosis: Some diagnoses may be excluded from coverage. Common exclusions include: developmental delay, language disorder, autism, auditory processing disorder, stuttering, congenital disorder (e.g., cleft palate).

  • Services are considered “educational”: Many plans deny services for school-age children because they can receive therapy in school. Unfortunately, not all children are eligible for school therapy unless the disorder is determined to be “educationally handicapping.”

If your insurance coverage DOES provide reimbursement for out of network speech and language services, please be sure to ask what additional information your insurance company may need. This may include a physician’s referral/pre-authorization, copy of the speech/language evaluation report, updated progress reports, etc. Although you will need to contact your pediatrician directly for the referral/pre-authorization letter, the SLPs at TPST will be happy to provide you with copies of the evaluation report and progress reports as needed.

Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship

WHAT IS OHIO’S JON PETERSON SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM?

The Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship Program (JPSN) gives the parents of children with disabilities (such as a speech and/or language impairment) the choice to send their child to special education programs other than the one operated by their school district of residence to receive the education and the services outlined in their Individualized Education Program (IEP).

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY?

  • An Ohio Kindergarten up to age 22 (if graduation requirements have not been met).

  • Students who have been determined eligible for special education and related services through an Evaluation Team Report (ETR). A finalized IEP from their district of residence is required to receive the scholarship award.

  • Students who are homeschooled and in a private school are eligible to apply.

HOW DO I APPLY FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP?

If a student is eligible for the JPSN Scholarship, the first step is to select a participating JPSN Provider to submit a scholarship application on behalf of the student. Please email Toledo Pediatric Speech Therapy if you are interested.
